Designed by NPS North East property consultants, and built by Miller Construction the building is steel-frame with metal stud and plasterboard internal walls, with heavyweight concrete floors and roofs to help to reduce overheating. This provides good levels of acoustic separation and reduces fabric heat losses to 10% lower than Building Regulations requirements.
Monarfloor's Tranquilt lightweight acoustic isolation system is capable of exceeding the requirements of the Part E & Building Bulletin 93 regulations in terms of impact and airborne sound insulation. It was installed under the floor screed on the ground and first floors including beneath the canteen and meeting areas of the central atrium to limit noise transmission.
In addition to phase one, Icopal’s extensive sedum roof system incorporating the Total Torch and Rootbar cap sheet system, was installed by Watershed Roofing on the roofs of the science and art and design technology classrooms.
Monarfloor's Bridgestop, Isolation Strip and Tranquilt products have helped create a safe, secure and welcoming environment for the residents at Trinity Apartments, Parkgate – a stylish new extra care scheme for Solihull Care Housing Association located in Shirley, Solihull. Chosen for their range of products and technical expertise, Icopal delivered excellent sound insulation; with pre completion sound testing scores achieving the maximum credits for sound reduction.
For the family members of sick children, it’s important to have a peaceful environment to retreat to, away from the noise and stress of the hospital ward. The Sick Children’s Trust recently committed to creating such an environment for the occupants of Scott House, a ‘Home from Home’ for families whose children are being cared for onsite at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne. They did this by choosing Monarfloor Tranquilt for its acoustic floating floor system. It ensures the large, open plan areas are a comfortable and calm space that can also help lower blood pressure and overall stress levels, giving families more time to focus on supporting their children being cared for at the hospital.
The scheme delivered an 850-capacity replacement building for Notre Dame High School, Greenock on the existing Notre Dame site, with a language and communication base incorporated. The project formed part of the Inverclyde Council’s multi-million pound schools PPP contract. Monarfloor's Absorption Panels were specified as they can absorb high levels of sound energy within a room creating a softer, more comfortable acoustic environment. They are designed to control reverberant noise in schools (BB93), multi-purpose halls and virtually any large volume spaces. The Monarfloor Absorption Panels were specified to partially cover new walls, whilst creating an architectural feature.
